About Studio Paleka-

I consider myself to be a craftswoman in the modern world.

I learned about the beauty of objects in my European father's workshop in California. Growing up around cars, watching them roll off the assembly line was my childhood. I learned to love the beautiful curves of bold design sculpting cars in Milan, carving chairs in Rhode Island and handmaking catwalk shoes in London.

After working as a designer for over eighteen years in factories around the world, I grew to miss the hands-on craftsmanship of my training. Combining all that I've learned on my travels, I bring a wealth of knowledge to every piece of upholstery. With a background in industrial design & fashion, I am a fully trained AMUSF accredited upholsterer and have won numerous awards, including Yeoman membership into the Worshipful Company of Upholders, Guild of Master Craftsmen & Worshipful Company of Cordwainers. My work has sold in Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Liberty, Brown Thomas, Fenwicks, La Rinascente & Nordstrom among others.

Today, I strip furniture back to bare bones & give pieces new life. Restoring both new & old frames, I can advise best methods & materials to create something exceptional. In some cases, we can even rework frames to make something unique & bespoke for your needs. I transform objects using both traditional & modern techniques, following the client's fancy. After all, furniture should be a comfort and a joy.
